💡The Big Idea
We’ve all seen it. You’re scrolling through Facebook, minding your own business, when suddenly something catches your eye. Maybe it’s a crazy good deal, a fun giveaway, or an offer that makes you think, “Well I wasn’t planning on spending money today…”
Now think about your own business. When was the last time that you create a promotion that made someone stop scrolling and pay attention? Because here is the thing: people are constantly being bombarded with sales, discounts, and advertisements. Another generic 10% off post probably isn’t going to be the one that knocks their boots off.
The good news? You don’t need some jaw dropping discount to get people excited. You just need to give them something worth paying attention to. And this week? We’re doing exactly that.
🏟️This Week’s Play
First things first, you need to give people a reason to care. Before throwing another sale, think about what your customers might want. Maybe it’s saving money, maybe it’s something extra, or having an experience they can’t get anywhere else. A coffee shop could offer a free pastry with a specialty drink, while a hair salon might bundle a haircut with a complimentary conditioning treatment. The secret isn’t always lowering your prices. Sometimes it’s making the experience feel more valuable.
Next, make your promotion stand out from the crowd. Instead of simply announcing the sale, give it some personality. A boutique could host a “Mystery Discount Weekend,” where customers have to reveal their discounts at checkout. A bakery could host a “Sweet Treat Tuesday,” with a surprise bonus for purchases over a certain amount. Promotions that feel fun, different, or interactive give people something to talk about and remember. When customers start talking, your promotion can reach people who may have never heard of your business before.
Now, give them a reason to act sooner rather than later. A great promotion creates excitement, but a clear deadline gives customers a reason to make a decision. Maybe your offer runs for 3 days, or the first 20 customers receive a special bonus. Whenever you choose, make sure the deadline or quantity limit is real. You want people thinking, “I don’t want to miss this” rather than, “Eh, i’ll be back another time.”
Finally, don’t keep this promotion a secret. Even the greatest offer won’t accomplish much if nobody knows about it. Share it on Facebook and Instagram, mention it in your newsletter, put up a sign in the store, and encourage your customers to share the word. Don’t be afraid to remind people once the moment is there either. Share a sneak peak before the promotion starts, announce it when it’s live, and give a final reminder before it ends. Then pay attention to what happens. Track purchases, bookings, or redemptions so you know if the promotion actually worked.
Here’s your challenge for the week. Create one promotion that feels exciting, offers real value, and gives customers a clear reason to take action. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. Just give it a little Outlaw personality and make it something people will remember.
