Let’s break real, AI talk can feel like alphabet soup. NLP, LLMs, ML… WTH? But if you are going to harness the power of AI in your marketing (and you should), you need to speak the language. Not like a data scientist, but like a sharp no BS marketer who knows just enough to be dangerous.

This week, is your glossary, but outlaw style. We are decoding the lingo and giving you a prompt you can actually use. Let’s turn the buzzwords into bite-sized, badass strategy.

AI Vocabulary

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The big umbrella term — any technology that can perform tasks that normally need human intelligence (like learning, reasoning, or writing).
💡 Think of AI as the “brain” behind smart tools like ChatGPT, Siri, or Google Translate.

Machine Learning (ML)

A type of AI where computers learn patterns from data instead of being programmed directly.
💡 Example: An ML system learns to recognize cats in photos after seeing thousands of cat pictures.

Neural Network

A computer system modeled after the human brain that helps AI “think” in layers — each layer learns something slightly deeper.
💡 These networks make modern AI so powerful

Deep Learning

A type of machine learning that uses many layers of neural networks.
💡 It’s what allows image recognition, voice assistants, and ChatGPT to exist.

Large Language Model (LLM)

A type of AI trained on billions of words to understand and generate human-like text.
💡 ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini are all LLMs.

Prompt

What you type into an AI tool — your input or instruction.
💡 Example: “Write a post about how AI helps small businesses.”

Automation

Using AI or software to do repetitive tasks automatically.
💡 Example: Using AI to schedule posts, write reports, or answer FAQs.

Generative AI

AI that creates new things — text, images, videos, code, or music.
💡 ChatGPT = text, DALL·E = images, Sora = video.

AI Ethics

The principles that guide fair, transparent, and responsible use of AI.
💡 Covers privacy, misinformation, and bias prevention

🧩 In One Sentence

AI is the big idea.
Machine learning is how it learns.
Neural networks and deep learning are the tech behind it.
LLMs like ChatGPT use prompts and training data to create responses.
Automation and generative AI are how you use it.
And ethics is how you do it responsibly.

🛠️AI Tool Spotlight

  • Auto generate videos (yes, videos)

Great for teams or solo marketers in beast mode
Actually fun to use (seriously)

📝 AI in the News

Adobe’s goes full LLM visibility boost

Adobe just rolled out a a game changer: an LLM Content Optimizer that helps businesses get their content seen across AI-powered chatbots, search engines, and browsers.

In plain English? It’s SEO for the AI age. Your blog post, landing page, or promo email can now be fine-tuned into rank in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI engines.

This isn’t a wishlist feature, it’s live. Which means that if you’re not optimizing AI visibility, your competitors probably are.

Outlaw’s POV: This is the beginning of AI-SEO and it’s moving fast. Don’t just write for Google anymore. Start writing for the bots that talk back.

⭐️Reader Spotlight

Last week we asked “If you could use AI to create one visual for you business like a logo, flyer or social post - what would it be?” Here is one of the replies we got back!

“Hey! My name is Jenna. I work at a boutique in downtown Bozeman. We are hosting trick or treat event for kids and families. I’d love to learn how to make a flyer that we can post to our social medias and hang around downtown. I’d like it to have a festive and fun vibe that fits our store, but nothing too cartoonish, while still being friendly. Could DALLE help with that?”

Hey Jenna, thanks for writing in! This kind of thing is exactly what DALL·E was made for. If you want something playful to help welcome families, but still reflects your boutiques aesthetic, here is how I would prompt it:

“A boutique Halloween flyer for a kids’ trick-or-treat event. Warm, cozy fall color palette with pumpkins, kids in cute costumes (like witch, ghost, superhero), and soft autumn elements like falling leaves and string lights. Friendly, clean, slightly whimsical — Instagram-ready poster layout.”

Pop that image into Canva or Simplified, add your event details, and boom! You’ve got a flyer that pulls double duty on your shop window and your feed.
